Refineries

A world-class refinery system

Both of Preem’s refineries in Lysekil and Göteborg are organized and operated as one joint refinery - Preemraff. The facilities are called Preemraff Lysekil and Preemraff Göteborg. Production and the facilities are managed and optimized as one system with shared management, strategy, development and future. Intensive work is under way to work together to achieve the common objective of being one of Europe’s most efficient refinery systems.

Biggest in sulfur-free diesel

Preem is also the biggest supplier of MK-1 diesel in the Swedish market. It has a sulfur content of less than 5 ppm (parts per million), significantly lower than the max 50 ppm that has been the requirement in Europe since 2005.

Active environmental adaptation

Our most important task is to supply the Swedish market with effective, environmentally adapted oil products. We invest continuously to minimize the environmental impact of the products and the refineries. One example is the refinery in Lysekil, which was recently extended with the latest technology for the production of totally sulfur-free vehicle fuels. Planning is under way to build an additional facility in Lysekil that can separate the heaviest fractions of crude oil from both facilities and refine them to produce diesel, gasoline and LPG, with coke as a by-product. Our refineries have been certified in accordance with ISO 14001, one small but important piece of evidence of our active environmental work.
